Asian Meatballs

Meatballs. Simple, classic, and delicious. Whether they accompany your spaghetti, top your pizza or are the heart of your sandwich, they are always amazing. But lately I’ve been getting a bit tired of the traditional Italian meatballs. So I decided to make these Asian inspired ones instead. And yeah, they were amazing. These are ideal as an appetizer, or as a potluck dish.

Meatballs

2 lbs extra lea ground beef
2 tsp sesame oil
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 tsp freshly ground ginger
2 eggs
1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions
Sesame seeds for garnish

Asian Sauce
2/3 cup hoisin sauce
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp ground gingerĀ

Preheat oven to 400F

In a large bowl, mix together meatball ingredients thoroughly. Shape into balls and place on a greased baking sheet.

Bake for 14-16 minutes, or until meatballs are golden on the outside and no longer pink on the inside, turning once.

While the meatballs are in the oven, whisk together all of the sauce ingredients. Once meatballs have finished cooking, dip each meatball individually (using a toothpick) in the sauce mixture.

Lightly garnish with sesame seeds and serve with toothpicks.
