Homemade Pizza Dough

So you want to make your pizza pie? Good for you. Pizza dough is really easy, and is crazy delicious. We’ve really gotten into making our pizzas and we love it. You can really start to experiment with toppings and different types of pizzas – and even calzones.

Here is my fool-proof pizza dough recipe that will be great every single time!

Homemade Pizza Dough
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1 tsp active dry yeast
1 tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 cups warm water (110F)

* this will be enough dough for two 12-inch pizzas

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt and yeast. Add olive oil and water, and work together throughly with your hands. Transfer to a floured work surface and begin to fold and knead the dough with your hands.  If the dough feels a bit sticky, add a bit of flour. If it seems too dry, add some more warm water. Continue to knead the dough until it is smooth and firm, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Place your ball of dough in a large greased steel bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for about 75 minutes, until it has doubled in size.
  3. Transfer back to a freshly floured work surface and break it into two even balls. Cover them each with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel, and let them rise for an additional 10 minutes.
  4. One at a time, roll out your balls of dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. Place dough on a prepared baking sheet or pizza stone. Dress your pizzas to your liking
  5. Bake pizzas for 10-12 minutes on the middle rack, until the cheese is bubble and the crust is golden brown.

There you go! Homemade pizza is as easy as that. Check out some of my pizza recipes
